Community-engaged research spans a wide variety of forms and formats – oral histories and teachings, audio-visual media, interactive mapping, documentary videos, and language apps, and more.  What are the possibilities for publishing and knowledge-sharing?  How are the results of this research shared with community and made available to the broader public in culturally respectful and formal ways?

This workshop will introduce participants to new multimedia forms of knowledge sharing.

10 am to 12 pm: This interactive discussion will contrast conventional publishing with new possibilities for digital scholarship. We will address the unique attributes of community-engaged research, including priorities in Indigenous knowledge sharing and data sovereignty. This session includes an overview of RavenSpace tools and processes.
Recommended for knowledge holders, scholars, students, administrators, librarians, community engagement professionals, and others involved in Indigenous knowledge sharing.

12 pm to 2 pm: A hands-on workshop for community-engaged authors and groups exploring publication. You will learn what’s involved in creating a multimedia publication, and explore a “pathway to publication” plan, through discussions about capacity, community participation, content/materials, timelines, funding, and others supports. A one-hour follow-up session with the presenter will be offered to those teams who wish to refine their plan to bring back to community.
A light lunch will be served.

This workshop is co-hosted by RavenSpace and the University of Manitoba Libraries, with financial support from the Mellon Foundation.
